The Reviewer of the Month for March 2022: Dr. Diogo Goulart Correa

We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for March 2022 goes to Dr. Diogo Goulart Correa.

As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month, BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness, and the timeliness of the review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.

Dr. Diogo Goulart Correa has a particular research interest in neuroimaging, primarily in central nervous system infections. His major research focus is on the impact of HIV, arboviruses and SARS-CoV-2 infection on the central nervous system. Currently, Dr. Correa is a Professor of Radiology at Federal Fluminense University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Researcher at Clínica de Diagnóstico por Imagem (CDPI)/DASA, also located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We asked Dr. Diogo Goulart Correa about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:

The peer-review process is fundamental for scientific research, being a key element in the evaluation of scientific manuscripts, for improvements in the text and guaranteeing the credibility of the process.

BJBMS congratulates Dr. Diogo Goulart Correa and wishes him many awards and recognitions in the future.
