The Reviewer of the Month for April 2022: Marek Hampl, PhD

We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for April 2022 goes to Marek Hampl, PhD.

As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month, BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness, and the timeliness of the review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.

Marek Hampl, PhD, a researcher at the Section of Animal Physiology and Immunology of Masaryk University, has a particular research interest in developmental biology, especially embryonic development. Currently, he is working on the embryonic craniofacial development of the secondary palate and teeth. For this research, mice, chicken and chameleons are the most commonly used model organisms.

We asked Marek Hampl about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:

There are many aspects for me, but if I had to choose three major ones, they would be: a) to maintain a high standard of the published data; b) to help other researchers in publishing their data in a clear and understandable manner; c) for reviewer to learn something new and be inspired by the study he or she is currently reviewing.

BJBMS congratulates Marek Hampl, PhD and wishes him many awards and recognitions in the future.
