We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for April 2021 goes to Dr. Tibor Tot.
As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness and the timeliness of review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.
The main field of interest for Dr. Tibor Tot is breast cancer pathology and radiological – pathological correlation. He published books, chapters and journal articles on this topic. Furthermore, he has been the chair of the European Society of Pathology – Breast pathology working group for years.
We asked Dr. Tibor Tot about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:
I feel that a good manuscript is like a classic symphony: it has a content, a form and a style. As a reviewer, You should not influence the content; by judging it you may influence the authors to modify the content themselves. On the other hand, you should help presenting this content in a proper form and help improving the style of the text, if and where needed. The reviewer is the first reader of the manuscript having the opportunity to judge the novelty of the content, the soundness of the results, and the easy of understanding the text. My aim as reviewer is helping the authors to reach the readers with their message.
BJBMS congratulates Dr. Tibor Tot and wishes him many awards and recognitions in the future.
