We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for May 2022 goes to Damian Kołat, MSc.
As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month, BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness, and the timeliness of the review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.
Damian Kołat, MSc, a senior laboratory research specialist at the Medical University of Lodz, Poland, has a particular research interest in carcinogenesis and bioinformatics. His major research interests concern the role of AP-2 transcription factors in tumors, the role of a global transcription modulator WWOX, as well as aspects related to non-coding RNAs. Currently, he is an academic editor in Baishideng Publishing Group, a member of the scientific council of the ELIXIR journal and an ambassador of The European Association for Cancer Research.
We asked Damian Kołat about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:
I see the peer-review process not only as a requirement to improve scientific manuscripts but also as a chance to improve myself. For an early-career researcher like me, it ensures that in the future I will be able to provide better opinions in the specific field, helping not only the other researchers but also the overall standard of science.
BJBMS congratulates Damian Kołat, MSc and wishes him many awards and recognitions in the future.
