The Reviewer of the Month for June 2021: Dr. Ana Tadijan

We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for June 2021 goes to Dr. Ana Tadijan.

As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness and the timeliness of review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.

The research of Dr. Ana Tadijan at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Croatia is focused on deciphering the roles of p53 protein isoforms in tumor biology. Although considered to be the guardian of the genome, p53 can encode different isoforms which, surprisingly, can perform tumor-promoting functions. Therefore, her research goal is to investigate the interplay of the p53 isoforms as well as its final effects on tumors.

We asked Dr. Ana Tadijan about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:

I feel that the peer-review process is very important for the maintenance of excellence in science and must not be taken lightly. A detailed, straight to-the-point comments and suggestions from reviewers help increase the quality of the manuscript and its readability, thus helping the quality scientific findings reach more people.

BJBMS congratulates Dr. Ana Tadijan and wishes her many awards and recognitions in the future.
