The Reviewer of the Month for December 2022: Elisa Belluzzi, PhD

We are proud to announce that the Reviewer of the Month Award for December 2022 goes to Elisa Belluzzi, PhD.

As a means to promote the hard work and dedication invested “behind the scenes” in order to improve scientific publications, each month, BJBMS Editors select a reviewer who performed the best amongst all the reviewers in the current month. Selection is based on the quality, thoroughness, and the timeliness of the review. It is a difficult task for our Editors, as they try not to underestimate the time and efforts of each of the reviewers who reviewed for the BJBMS in the current month.

Elisa Belluzzi, PhD, Assistant Professor at the University of Padova, has a particular research interest in musculoskeletal diseases with a particular focus on osteoarthritis and bone cancer, and frequently collaborates with orthopaedic surgeons on clinical research projects.

We asked Ms. Belluzzi about the importance and other aspects of the peer-review process in general:

I think that the review process is a critical step and therefore the reviewer has a great responsibility. The reviewer is the first reader who judges a manuscript. Judgment should be constructive and fair in order to identify the weak and unclear points of the manuscript, thus helping the authors to improve it.

BJBMS congratulates Elisa Belluzzi PhD, and wishes her many awards and recognitions in the future.
