BJBMS publishes November 2018 issue

Bosnian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences (BJBMS) has recently published its November 2018 issue. The current issue comprises articles from several fields of basic medical as well as the translational medical research.

Learn about a brief update on recent advances in research on aspartate β-hydroxylase (ASPH) in pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive review by Bai et al.  A research article from Demir et al. investigates the prognostic value of aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1) in invasive breast carcinomas (BC). They confirmed that ALDH1 is a potentially important, poor prognostic factor in BC, associated with high histological grade, estrogen and progesterone receptor (ER/PR) negativity and human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2) positivity.

An important article from Basal et al. reports that epidermal growth factor (EGF) promotes bone healing in surgically induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Furthermore, a highly accessed article featuring the effect of miR-210 upregulation on differentiation of human umbilical cord blood (HUCB)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into osteoblasts was written by Asgharzadeh et al. They report that upregulation of miR-210 promotes differentiation of MSCs into osteoblasts.

In a comprehensive case report, Velnar described and shortly discussed the evacuation of intracerebral hematoma (ICH) with a minimally invasive non-endoscopic surgical technique.
